Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Mon 4th Nov 24 (0815 - 09.20) All 4 cattle & 7 ponies seen. MY first "full-house".

Arrived in area via cattle grid in E9 to sound of chain saw and a fire in scrub silver birch woodland in D9 & E9.   I rode down to clearing in D9 and spoke to contractors by their vehicles.  They advised that they were thinning-out the scrub woodland and that there was a H&IoW WT staff member with them and that he was operating the chainsaw I could hear.   He eventually appeared from the woodland and we introduced ourselves.   He had not seen any stock that morning

I then went off on bike to find stock.   I found two ponies on the main track in I3

I found the four cattle close to the fence in M3 - M4. I went into the compound to take photos, but after I had come back out, they came up to the compound fence and I was able to take closer photos.   All four appeared content and were grazing.    This was the first time that I have managed to find them.

I then went off to find the remaining ponies.   I came across some of the ponies on the main track along H3 & I3.  However, when I stopped and listened I could hear others in the dense gorse along the track.  I waited on the track and eventually was able to confirm that all 7 ponies were there together.  Some were happy to be neck stroked while I waited and all were happily feeding on the young gorse or the sparse grass on the track sides.  All appeared well.  Unfortunately my phone had died by then, so unable to take any photos.

Tree is onto fence just resting on the barbed wire and not breaking or making it unsafe but might if left
