Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 23rd November - All 11 seen

The ponies were sheltering from the rain under the trees near ///cuts.jazz.reverses at 13:30 this afternoon. They were very friendly, coming over one by one to say hello and enjoy some strokes. Although rather wet, they seemed to like having the top layer of their coats ruffled to help them dry. They all enjoyed long neck and ear rubs while resting. Despite the weather, they appeared happy, relaxed and in good condition.

By 14:05, I wandered off to look for the yearlings, and the ponies followed me out of the trees, grazing in the pasture to the west. Shortly after, I found the four yearlings deep in the gorse bushes near ///causes.curl.greed. A couple of them came out to greet me, and like the ponies, they were quite wet but seemed happy.

After a while, I returned to the ponies, who were still grazing despite the ongoing drizzle. They frequently took breaks to come over for more strokes and rubs, responding with affectionate head rubs and nuzzles. Around 14:50, I walked over to check the trough, and the dark pony with the white blaze followed me. After I cleared the leaves from the water's surface, she immediately took several big drinks before returning for a long neck rub. Another pony soon joined us, also eager for strokes.

At 15:10, I noticed the yearlings had emerged from the gorse bushes, so I went over to check on them again. The dark pony accompanied me but, after sniffing yearling 278, ran back to rejoin the other ponies. The yearlings were all looking well and, after being checked, followed me back towards the ponies.

As the rain was getting heavier just before 15:25, I said my goodbyes to the ponies. They followed me back into the trees as I was leaving, seeking shelter from the worsening weather.

The cows and the ponies were both good today.
