Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 2nd November - All 11 seen

The yearlings were grazing deep in the thicket near ///overt.gold.pardon at 14:15 this afternoon. Despite repeated attempts from all sides, I couldn't find a suitable track to reach them. While I could see them from afar, getting closer was a real challenge due to the swampy terrain and dense thicket. In the end, I noticed them heading northwest, so I repositioned myself and waited. Right on cue, they appeared near ///elders.tricks.sharper at 14:40, coming over to say hello and give me a sniff. Although covered in gorse, they all looked well.

Around 15:00, I began searching for the ponies, but had to return briefly to the car to deal with a callout from work. Fortunately, I resolved it quickly and was back on the trail twenty minutes later.

I found four ponies grazing in the thicket near ///trials.valve.lengthen at 15:40. They approached one by one for greetings and strokes. Ten minutes later, the other three, who had been grazing to the north, joined us. They were all very friendly and came straight over to say hello. All seven took turns to enjoy long neck and back rubs. The ponies were happy, relaxed and looking well.

The ponies continued grazing in the area, gradually moving southeast, enjoying the long grass, heather, and gorse. They frequently took breaks to come over for more strokes, displaying plenty of affection with gentle head rubs and nuzzles. By 16:30, they had reached the track near ///beep.moves.bead, where most paused to drink from the large puddles. Even as dusk fell, they returned for more attention, reluctant for me to leave. I've rarely received so many nuzzles! I finally said my goodbyes at 17:00 when it was completely dark. After following me to the main path, the ponies crossed over, heading towards the compound.

The cows and ponies were all good today.
