Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Sun 15 Dec 24, (11.00 - 11.50) All 7 ponies & all 4 cattle seen.

I quickly found the ponies in D9 all together in the clearing, just to the west of where the silver birch were recently cleared and burnt.  They all appeared well.

I then went to search for the cattle.  The Grazing Map showed them in E8, just to east of the tarmac Ammo Dump access road.

However, actually getting to see the was not so simple and they were in a  large patch of high gorse gradually moving north, but remaining in the gorse.  I found a hole on the gorse and managed to get in there, where I was rewarded by sighting three of them including the one with the GPS collar and  #276. I could not find or hear the other one, so I changed tactics  I retiring to the road and called them with various sounds.  I was eventually rewarded with the three coming out as far as the tree corridor, where I managed to photo #276 & his ear tag and the three together.  I then went back into the gorse and listened, (while "the seen 3" were still outside.  I the heard noises further to the south and the managed to catch a sight, but not photo, (too thick gorse) of the forth member of the herd.  All four cattle appeared to be well and contently grazing.
