Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Saturday 6th April - All 4 seen - Pony with white blaze has a cut on her front right foot

The ponies were all grazing in the area around ///crypt.caskets.only at 13:00.  They were all happy and relaxed.  Even though it was very windy, the darker of the ponies soon climbed up onto the grass mound and started to graze.  She was showing off her balancing skills, often eating grass from the sides of the mound while getting buffeted by the wind.  Thankfully, she soon came down and joined the other three grazing on flat land.

Sadly, the white blazed pony has cut her front right foot.  She was walking fine, didn't appear to be in any distress, and was otherwise okay.  She was her usual friendly self and came and said hello and received a long ear rub while she was resting.  The other three all came and said hello too.

At around 13:50, when the wind was at its worst, the ponies all set off southwest to the open area around ///truth.warms.calm.  They stopped off and had a drink of water from some puddles before munching on some grass.  After about ten minutes, they then wandered southeast to the area around ///occur.posts.judges.   The ponies found a nice sunny spot, where they all continued to graze.  I said goodbye to them just before 14:30.

Both the owner and HIWWT have been made aware of the injury to the white blazed pony.  Additional photos have been shared with Nicky.  Nicky is going to come up tomorrow to treat the injured pony.
