Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Friday 11th October - All 12 seen

Yearlings 278 and 283 were lying down, relaxing near ///hotdog.lunge.proofs at 13:30 this afternoon, with yearlings 277 and 282 resting nearby. All four were happy, relaxed and looking well, having settled in nicely.

The ponies were relaxing under the trees just behind the yearlings. A couple of them weren't too impressed that I checked on the cattle first and quickly wandered over to say hello, eager for some strokes. They were all very friendly and happy to be approached for strokes. Several ponies enjoyed neck and back rubs while resting. They all looked great.

Around 14:00, the yearlings wandered off to the northeast to graze in the pasture. Shortly after, the ponies ventured out to enjoy the warm sunshine. They headed northwest to graze near ///boomer.dupe.drift. They relished the long grass growing around the bracken and nibbled on leaves from the trees and bushes. The ponies would regularly take breaks to come over for more strokes.

There was no noticable change in Polly's foot today. She still walked cautiously on rougher ground but seemed fine while grazing in the swampy pasture. She's keeping up with the other ponies and is otherwise doing well.

By 15:00, I found the yearlings again, happily grazing deep in the thicket near ///geek.neat.string. Though the area was swampy, the boys navigated the mud and water with ease. I kept my distance so as not to scare them, but checked to make sure they were okay. By 15:20, they had made their way to the gorse bushes by the main path. Curiosity got the better of them, and after emerging from the bushes, they cautiously approached me for a sniff.

After a short while, I headed along the path towards the ammo compound to find the ponies again. When I glanced back, the yearlings were following. The ponies were grazing on the southeast side of the compound at 15:40. After another round of greetings, they got back to grazing. One pony climbed the large grass verge to graze. The yearlings, who had been holding back, came over and joined in. Three of them ended up on the verge with the pony, but wisely climbed down just as I was saying my goodbyes at 16:00.

The cows and the ponies were all good today.
