Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Wednesday 7th - Morning

Ponies were resting and warming themselves in the sun just before the compound .  They were all well with no issues.

Went and checked the water trough.  No ice and looking fine

Came across the cows just at side of compound.  They were grazing in the sun.  Had long back rubs with 3 of them.  No issues.

Wednesday 7th January - Staff Check - Full House

All 4 boys seen by corral. In good condition. Gave them some nuts. Still very much bucket keen so foresee no problems replacing collar batteries within next couple weeks. Date TBC.

Ponies all nearby. All looking very well.  A few had strokes but mostly grazing/dozing.

    Cheers

Tuesday 6th jan All ponies seen in F5

We found the ponies in the snow. They looked ok ..a bit wet. All had a stroke. Eating snow with gorse so getting water that way.

There is water in the area. Ziggy took me into I3/J3 initially and I can confirm plenty of cold water available as I found out the hard way.

He then took into the duckpond and I think the boys might have been there but I could not get over the water with ice not strong enough for me.

Had to abandon my attempts to find the ponies as I got wet and cold.

    Monday 5th Jan water

We walked to the trough. It was not completely frozen but there was some thick ice which i cleared.

There is also water on the track that goes across from G5-I4. The puddles are beginning to melt and i broke as much as I could. The area where the pipe is had flowing water..i broke the ice that was in this area.

The track from H3 to L4 also has lots of water along the side that is not frozen.

Doesnt show well in photos but there is water in the area they were in today

Monday 5th Jan all seen in the sun looking fine

12 noon found the ponies in G4 looking fine. Polly has a healing scratch on her right flank photo below.

They were eating gorse. A couple of them were using their hooves to disrupt the ground.

The boys found in F5 looking fine. Jura came for a stroke.

We went to the trough and on way back the ponies were in the same place and the boys had moved to F3
