Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

    Saturday 21st September - All 8 seen

I received a lovely welcome when I entered the site through the car park gate at 15:20 this afternoon. All eight ponies were gathered nearby, relaxing in the shade. One by one, they came over to greet me, happily enjoying ear rubs, neck strokes and back rubs. The girls were especially friendly today and looked gorgeous.

I noticed that the top rail of the fence by the entrance gate had come loose. I managed to temporarily secure it back onto the post, but it will need a hammer for a proper fix.

By 16:10, the ponies had started grazing along the sides of the path. They took frequent breaks to come back over and see me, enjoying lots of attention. They were all happy, relaxed and looking very well. After a while, some ponies started to rest, while others wandered into the thicket to graze. Those resting were happy to receive back rubs as they basked in the warm sunshine. Every time I thought about leaving, another pony would emerge from the thicket to spend more time with me.

I said my goodbyes just before 17:00, but one pony followed me all the way to the gate, as if she didn’t want me to go. I spent a little extra time with her, giving her more strokes before I had to leave.

The ponies were all good today.
