Three ponies were grazing near the entrance by the car park at 15:20 this afternoon. They warmly greeted me, coming over one by one for some strokes. As I wondered where the others were, I looked up to see them wandering along the path. When they reached me, they said hello, with several giving me gentle nuzzles. They were very relaxed, and the two newcomers seem to be settling in well.
The ponies started grazing, enjoying the fresh grass, and paused for a drink from a large puddle. They soon returned for more strokes, with many enjoying neck and back rubs. By 16:00, four ponies had wandered off into the thicket to munch on long grass and gorse, while the other four stayed close. One pony stood beside me on the path for the next thirty minutes, happily getting the sides of her neck and ears rubbed. She was so relaxed, resting a hind leg, lowering her head, and even closing her eyes at one point.
Just after 16:30, the four ponies emerged from the thicket and rejoined the others, grazing along the path. I said my goodbyes about fifteen minutes later. The ponies were all happy, relaxed and looking well.
The ponies were all good today.
