The yearlings were happily grazing near ///arise.comment.work, northeast of the ammo compound at 15:00 this afternoon. They were enthusiastically munching on the fresh grass, especially enjoying the daisies, while showing off their hill-climbing skills. All were in good spirits, coming over one by one to say hello and enjoy some strokes. They looked happy, relaxed, and well.
Yearlings 276 and 282 were especially affectionate today. Both regularly returned for more attention, particularly enjoying long neck and back rubs. The hair on yearling 282’s neck continues to thin, but it doesn’t seem to be bothering him — he was more than happy for me to rub the area. At one point, yearling 276 rested his head on my shoulder during a neck rub, thanking me with gentle head rubs and a few licks.
The group carried on grazing in the warm sunshine, with yearling 276 staying close for the occasional back scratch while munching on the lush grass. Around 15:45, the boys wandered into the thicket to the northwest to continue eating in the shade. I said my goodbyes just after 16:00, leaving them all content and grazing happily.
There were numerous pieces of barbed wire scattered on the ground close to where the yearlings had been grazing. I collected the pieces, including many smaller fragments, and removed them from the site.
Before heading off, I cleaned the water trough, which was full but had a fair amount of algae and leaves floating on the surface.
The cows were all good today.
