Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Fri 28 Feb 25 (15.00 - 15.50). All Four year cattle seen in E5. Only saw One Pony in J7

The four cattle were initially seen and photographed immediately north of the ammo dump in E5 grazing in light scrub.  They all appeared well and approached towards me.

As I was leaving the ammo dump on the main track heading towards the cattle grid in J7 I passed three soldiers, who had reported that they had seen five ponies near the cattle grid.

When I got to the location, I could only find one pony - the the one with the short white sock and hoof on her rear rhs foot.  She was  on the singletrack path, just 30 yards west of the cattle grid in J7. .  She appeared well and relaxed allowing me to stroke under her mane for some time,  She called out twice while I was with her & another time as I was 50 yards back up the main track towards the ammo dump.  However, I never heard any response from the others.  I did not see her graze, but she appeared relaxed.

As I left the meadow, I passed the four cattle again happily grazing to the south of the ammo dump.

    Thursday 17th Feb, Morning

I've discovered the Nofence Grazing Map on the Blogger website! Makes life a lot easier. I wish the ponies had a tracker. All ponies & cows seen. There were grazing & enjoying the sunshine. They all looked great.

    Wednesday 26th cows seen in C 6 1pm

All there but only got 3 in photo

    Wednesday 26th Feb - Morning

Well that was one of the wettest, miserables checks I have done!

Glad the tracker showed where the cows were ///crunched.lecturers.lightbulb

They were in a very wet and muddy area well out of sight.  They were grazing as they walked.  All appeared fine but didn't want to know me at all.  No pictures as it was hissing down!

Found the ponies near the compound at ///reviewed.faster.swarm

They looked very sorry for themselves.  All appeared to be OK.

I decided a hot coffee was required and went home

Tuesday 25th February - Staff Check

All ponies seen near the ammo dump this afternoon dozing in the sun. Some were very friendly and wanted scratches, probably because the flies were out in full force today!!
All well with ponies, no lumps, bumps or anything to report.

The recent sunshine has charged the nofence cattle collar a bit so it's now on 7% and able to track 'Jeans' and gang.

Yearlings seen by cattle grid nearest sailing club.
No. 276 has become the world's friendliest cow since I met him in November and eagerly approaches for head, face and neck rubs but if you do this for him, don't let him get bolshy...!

I can't remember if I mentioned but I'll be changing the battery early March when I can get some colleagues to help, and probably putting collars on all four yearlings.
