Emergency Procedure

If you need to report an emergency to us such as injured or escaped livestock or damaged infrastructure please follow this procedure:

  1. Call the office on 01256 381190.
  2. If no one answers, wait for the answering message which will detail the name and mobile number of the member of staff who is currently on call.
  3. Phone the on-call member of staff who will then respond accordingly.

NOTES:

  • Please do not phone a member of staff directly unless you know they are on-call.

  • If you are unsure if a particular situation qualifies as an emergency then please phone the on-call member of staff anyway so that they can make the decision on how to proceed.

  • Most importantly of all – please do not report injuries or sick animals via the blog alone – always call the emergency on-call contact.

    Thank you!

Saturday 17th August - All 6 seen - the dark pony with the white blaze has a sore on her front left leg.

The ponies were grazing in the warm sunshine in the area around ///asterisk.shred.sheet at 15:10 this afternoon. I received a lovely welcome, with a couple of them making soft nickering noises as they approached me to say hello. They were all very friendly and were happy to stand and be stroked. The girls were all happy and relaxed. There were a lot of flies around today, which were gathering on the ponies faces. After a while, the ponies spread out into the area to the southwest, where they continued to graze. They were enjoying lots of long grass, heather and the occasional bit of gorse. They would regularly come back over for more strokes. I noticed that some were starting to grow their winter coats when giving them back rubs. I also noticed that the dark pony with the white blaze had a sore at the top of her front left leg. Sadly, the flies were being drawn to it. I've shared some close up photos with the owner. The pony has had a treatment applied to clean the wound. She was absolutely fine and stood and enjoyed an ear rub afterwards. We'll need to keep a careful eye on her. The ponies continued to graze, making it to the area near the path at the main vehicle entrance at around 16:20. I said goodbye to them not long after.

Despite the injury to one of the ponies, they were all good today.
